The Unhealer (2020) explained
Unhealer (2020)

The "Unhealer (2020)" tells the gloomy story of Kelly, a bullied boy who is ostracized because of a physical ailment called Pica that forces him to consume inanimate objects.  Because of this oddity, he gets the nasty nickname "Trashcan" from his peers, especially the unyielding Nelson and his gang.  Kelly faces continuous mockery and humiliation, to the point that the school coach chooses to ignore it since he is related to one of the bullies.

A ray of hope emerges when Pflueger, a religious healer, offers unusual assistance to Bernice, Kelly's worried mother.  There's a palpable sense of desperation in the air as Bernice entrusts Pflueger with Kelly's safety.  But the ceremony goes terribly wrong.  Pflueger passes away inexplicably, leaving a frightened Kelly with an unanticipated outcome.

Kelly's ill-fated mending unleashes a sinister force.  In sharp contrast to the frailty he had known, he finds an amazing capacity to heal from wounds quickly.  However, there is a terrible twist to this gift.  Kelly quickly learns that he can send his tormentors the agony they are inflicting on him.  This newfound power gives him a terrible desire of revenge that is driven by years of hurt that he has been holding within.

A fight with Nelson and his allies provides the first taste of tremendous power.  Kelly puts up with their jokes, but when they push him too far, the hurt they cause comes back to haunt them tenfold.  The bullies give up, scared and perplexed, giving Kelly a terrifying sensation of power.

Kelly is portrayed as a weirdo when word of the incident catches around like wildfire across the campus.  But Kelly's old friend Dominique, with whom she re-connects, sees past the gossip.  She provides him with a sliver of normalcy and the opportunity to interact with someone who is accepting of both his history and his newfound skills.  Kelly feels a flash of hope—a possibility for a life freed from the cycle of bullying.

Red Elk, a Native American with a strong grasp of the paranormal, becomes interested in Pflueger's death in the meanwhile.  Red Elk investigates Pflueger's death's circumstances because he believes something evil is at work.  His research takes him to the disturbed burial site that Pflueger had tampered with, where he discovers the origin of Kelly's current dark power.

Kelly investigates the depth of his abilities, blurring the distinction between revenge and self-defense.  He begins to terrify his bullies with his powers, enjoying the horror he can cause.  The boy's frightening transformation from a shy to a spiteful force disturbs Dominique.

In an attempt to stop Kelly, the bullies pull a dangerous practical joke that causes a gas explosion, which fatally intensifies the situation.  Kelly's house is destroyed by the explosion, and Bernice perishes in the subsequent mayhem.  Kelly is devastated by this setback, and his growing hope is replaced with an all-consuming hatred.

Sorrow and fury combine to create a terrible desire for vengeance.  The teenager who yearned for normalcy is no more.  A spiteful force that is prepared to exact the highest price from his tormentors now stands in his stead.  He uses all of his abilities to cause his past bullies to suffer unbearable agony or maybe die.

After piecing together the events, Red Elk has to hurry to get to Kelly before he passes a point where he can't go back.  Fearing the worst if Kelly completely gives in to the dark force's corrupting influence, he tries to limit the dark power released by the disastrous healing procedure.

A heated encounter between Kelly and Red Elk serves as the movie's finale.  Kelly is urged by Red Elk to break out from the cycle of violence and hatred.  He exposes the perils of unchecked power use and how it may devour even the most pure of hearts.

The conclusion of the movie is left up for interpretation.  Does Kelly learn to harness his talents and pay attention to Red Elk's warnings?  Or does he give in to the shadows, engulfed in a never-ending cycle of retaliation?  The video below will answer all your questions.
